Tottenham Hotspur sent Southampton back to the Championship with immediate effect after a 3-1 win in north London today.

By doing so Aaron Ramsdale has suffered his third relegation with as many clubs after going down with Bournemouth and Sheffield in the past.

Brennan Johnson ran the show and grabbed a brace before Mathys Tel killed off the fixture with a 96th minute spot-kick. Brazilian midfielder Matheus Fernandes had reduced the arrears to put a petty stain on Guglielmo Vicario and Tottenham's day.

Tottenham didn't waste any time in relegating the Saints as they aimed to play themselves into confidence and form for Thursday's visit of Frankfurt.

Seconds after Vicario had denied Japanese Yukinari Sugawara his colleague Fernandes put a dent on the Italian's hopes of a clean sheet late on.

But Harry Kane's former Bayern teammate Mathys Tel had the audacity to take a late penalty to score his maiden Premier League goal and put the game beyond doubt.
