Ex-Watford defender Adam Masina's Torino trash Metz 3-0
By Alessandro Schiavone
Adam Masina's Torino cruised to a 3-0 win over Metz in a friendly today.
The former Hornets defender, playing on the left of a three-man defence, wasn't particularly tested by Metz's attack.
Colombian Duvan Zapata gave Torino the lead with a cool-as-you like finish after being slipped in on goal.
Then on the stroke of half-time, Newcastle flop Valentino Lazaro crashed home first time manager Paolo Vanoli's side's second from distance with the inside of his right boot.
Late on Zapata could have added to his side's lead after being picked out by ex-Southampton star Che Adams but his header lacked both placement and power.
Italian hotshot Samuele Ricci rounded off the result after Metz keeper Oukidja fumbled his strike three minutes from time.
The visitors gave nothing away and even when Metz stretched them midway through the second half they found in Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic an impregnable customer.
Masina, now 30, spent fours years at Vicarage Road until 2022 and was part of the side that reached the FA Cup final three years earlier.
He joined Torino on loan from Watford's sister club Udinese in January before making the move permanent this summer.
The Clarets will get their campaign underway away to AC Milan on August 17.
