Cherries' Tavernier: We don't have stars in our side, we can't spend loads of money on players

Bournemouth ran out 1-0 winners at the Vitality Stadium, putting on an impressive display to defeat Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham.
Marcus Tavernier was instrumental in Bournemouth’s win, as he caused the Spurs defence problems throughout the match.
Speaking to Capital Football about the win, Tavernier said: “Yeah, it's a good result, against a very good team. I know their recent form might not say that, but they are a top side, and we knew it was going to be a tough test. But these are the games we want to be winning to end up where we want to end up at the end of the season.”
Tavernier said of his own performance: “Yeah, (I'm) happy with the way I played. I just couldn't hit the back of the net. There were a few chances there that I should have put to bed, but that's something I need to definitely improve on: to score more goals.
"I'm probably the most critical person. It could be the hardest chance in the world, but if I don’t hit the target or make the keeper work, I'm frustrated. We are at the very top level, where players score tough chances, and I'd like to be one of those players.”
When asked about the team's recent success against teams such as Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham, Tavernier said: “The gaffer made a big point at the start of the season about how many points we took off the big teams last season, and I think it was only two points off the top six. That's something we needed to change to end up where we want to end up at the end of the season. We need to be beating these teams or taking points off them, and it's a great place to be when you are at home. The manager also said we want to make this place a hard place for teams to come, and we show we are doing that every time we go out there.”
Tavernier emphasised the team's spirit and togetherness, saying: “We are a team, we haven’t really got star individuals. We are not like the other teams that can spend loads of money and buy top players. We work definitely as a team, and we all work together as a unit and pull out performances like we did today…
"This team’s been through a lot of ups and downs since the time I’ve been here, and you can see it’s a team and a very family-oriented place, and we bring that out on the pitch in everything we do. We were 1-0 up, and the defence has done a great job to keep a clean sheet and bring us home three points.”
